Beneficial Food Categories
This guide introduces the numerous categories of beneficial foods and drinks that can be used to sustain and improve your overall health. They are classified by categories with their benefits.
Over consumption of any one category is not recommended. Moderation is key, where eating the right amount of each food category is essential.
As we age, some categories may not be beneficial to the body, unless the food is treated differently. An an example, oxalates are found in leafy greens and are perfect to consume, but as we get older, oxalates reduce calcium absorption unless the leafy greens are cooked. It's important to remember that these are guides. They should be treated as such. Any changes to your diet should be reviewed with your health practitioner.
Making a switch from an overly-processed unhealthy lifestyle to a better, more healthy one should be gradually phased in. Try experimenting with a mixture of these categories of food.

Vitamins
This guide provides a list of core essential Vitamins the body needs.
Each vitamin aids specific areas of the body. Use this guide to determine which Vitamins you need in your current diet.
Our Nourish and Infuse sections contains a list of commonly available seasonings, spices, vegetables, teas and juices containing some of these essential vitamins.
Please note that there are usually Recommended Daily Allowances (RDA) for each vitamin, and they are different for both men and women, women who are pregnant, young and old and those with certain medical conditions. As a guideline, try and follow the RDA per day.
Consult your health practitioner if you have any concerns with the consumption of any of the food sources listed.
Minerals
Minerals are essential nutrients that the human body needs in small but critical amounts to perform a wide range of physiological functions.
They play key roles in building strong bones and teeth, maintaining proper nerve and muscle function, supporting the immune system, and regulating metabolism.
Major minerals like calcium, potassium, magnesium, and phosphorus help manage fluid balance, muscle contractions, and energy production, while trace minerals such as zinc, iron, selenium, and iodine are vital for hormone regulation, oxygen transport, and cellular repair.
A balanced diet that includes a variety of whole foods — such as leafy greens, legumes, nuts, dairy, meats, and seafood can provide most of the minerals the body requires.
Unlike vitamins, minerals are inorganic and cannot be destroyed by heat, light, or cooking, making them more stable during food preparation.
However, deficiencies or imbalances in certain minerals can lead to serious health issues, such as weakened bones, fatigue, immune dysfunction, or anemia.
Ensuring an adequate mineral intake is therefore essential for maintaining overall health, vitality, and disease prevention.
We are actively working on providing a list of essential minerals.
